Company Profile:

Fusion Pharmaceuticals is a newly formed biopharmaceutical company discovering and developing targeted alpha-particle radiotherapeutics for treating cancer.  Targeted alpha-particle emitting radiotherapeutics combine the precision of molecular targeting agents, such as antibodies, with the potency of alpha-particle emitting radioisotopes to specifically attack and eradicate cancer cells.

Overview:

As a member of the Chemistry/Radiochemistry Department you will be responsible for working in accordance with company policy while contributing your expertise to support current projects and develop future drugs/therapeutics within the Fusion portfolio. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering synthetic strategies leading to novel chemical matter. The right candidate will embrace maintaining a laboratory presence while offering mentorship to other members of the team.

Reporting to the Director of Chemistry,


Scientific Duties include but are not limited to:


Provide leadership in the research and development in the synthesis novel linker scaffolds to chemically modify proteins/antibodies
Develop and conduct multistep chemical synthesis and interpret analytical data to elucidate the structure of small molecules
Contribute to the scientific direction of the company, setting goals and priorities consistent with the organizational needs
Prepare and deliver scientific findings through presentations both internally and externally
Establish and oversee projects with minimal guidance
Oversee laboratory staff as assigned
All other duties as assigned

Experience and Responsibilities:

PhD with at least 5 years of direct scientist experience with significant accomplishments
Comprehensive understanding of medicinal chemistry and structure-activity relationships (SAR)
Knowledge of organometallic and/or radiochemistry with a broad-based knowledge of protein conjugate scientific literature is highly desirable
Strong synthetic skills in organic/inorganic chemistry
Knowledge of compound design strategies and lead optimization approaches
Ability to be a spokesperson for chemistry across the organization
Desire for working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
The ability to coach and delegate effectively while functioning as an integral part of the team
