As a Laboratory Technician, you will work as part of a pre-clinical biology research team that is responsible for the discovery, production, development, validation, and advancement of the next generation of radiotherapeutics and nuclear imaging probes. The specific focus of the position will be to support a broad range of preclinical development activities. This position is located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Responsibilities and job tasks will include:

  • Conduct and report on therapeutic efficacy and biodistribution studies of radiopharmaceuticals using rodent models of cancer (or other disease indications of interest)
  • Maintain rodent cohorts, establish tumour xenografts, and administer test articles to rodents by various routes including injection and oral gavage
  • Perform mammalian cell culture in support of biology group activities
  • Document experimental procedures and results in Fusions electronic notebook system
  • Assist in the maintenance of laboratories, animal facilities, and laboratory equipment
  • Maintain laboratory records (SDS, chemical, radioisotope, biohazard, cell bank)
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Recognized post-secondary education in the health sciences
  • Expertise in the administration of test articles to rodents by various routes of administration is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience with laboratory animal handling, care, operations. RLAT or RVT certification is an asset.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture. Experience with general biochemical methods and cell biological methods (e.g. flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry) is an asset
  • Highly organized with proven ability to work independently with strong communication skills, including proficiency in the English language
  • Excel working in a collaborative environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team
