Fusion Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage oncology company focused on developing next-generation radiopharmaceuticals as precision medicines to treat a broad range of cancers. Using its proprietary Fast-Clear Linker technology platform, Fusion attaches medical isotopes to targeting molecules creating novel, next-generation cancer treatments. In preclinical studies, the Company has shown the ability to precisely target and effectively kill solid tumor cells while minimizing the impact to healthy tissue. Fusion's lead program, FPI-1434, is currently in a Phase 1 trial. The Company completed an oversubscribed $125M Series B financing that will be used to advance FPI-1434 and initiate preclinical and clinical development on multiple new agents.   Fusion is supported by a strong syndicate of investors and has ambitious goals to expand its pipeline.

The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the finance organization, reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller and working directly with the broader team to drive best-in-class financial operations to Fusion and its subsidiaries. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated with a passion for accounting, financial reporting, and making use of information technology to expedite the close process within a dynamic organization. The position will be accountable for high-exposure areas, which impact financial reporting, technical accounting and operational accounting, and will need outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in financial close activities, including preparation of month-end reconciliations and journal entries to ensure general ledger accounts are compliant with US GAAP
  • Develop templates, custom searches and custom reports to maximize efficiencies in newly implemented ERP system (NetSuite)
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly US GAAP financial statement
  • Key contributor in financial statement audits and reviews, including interaction with external auditors
  • Assist in development of methodologies to ensure complex accruals are compliant with US GAAP, including but not limited to CRO & CMO accruals
  • Reconcile cash accounts in multiple foreign currencies to ensure cash is complete and accurate at month end
  • Assist in identification and implementation of new US GAAP pronouncements
  • Assist in review and maintenance of manual and automated internal controls, streamlining where possible to gain efficiencies
  • Participate in additional system implementations
  • Support ad-hoc requests and other duties as assigned

  

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years of progressive experience in an accounting or auditing environment, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotech or related health-care industry with exposure to accounting for clinical trials
  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting is a must
  • Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm preferred
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance CPA or equivalent course work completed or in process to be eligible to take CPA exam
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with teams in multiple locations a plus
  • Information system skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel
